Ralph Ruthe brings SHIT HAPPENS to Munich

When cartoon characters suddenly catch a whiff of the stage, animated films meet pointed readings, and the audience collectively forgets everyday life, Ralph Ruthe is at work. On Saturday, October 24, 2026, the cartoonist celebrates the Munich premiere of SHIT HAPPENS – The (new) Show at the Theater LEO17.

Cartoon Comedy with Multimedia Factor

Ralph Ruthe is one of the most well-known German cartoonists and combines in his live show witty drawings, animated films, music, and readings into an unusual stand-up experience. Instead of classic cabaret with a glass of water, there's a fast-paced mix of visual punchlines, dry timing, and absurd everyday scenes. The result: comedy that is not only spoken but also drawn, animated, and musically staged.

From the Cartoon Directly to the Spotlight

Ruthe works as a cartoonist, author, musician, and filmmaker. At just 14 years old, he wrote texts for the customer magazine MIKE and the Honk studios, later working for MAD Magazine. His series SHIT HAPPENS! focuses on the humorous perspective on the small disasters of life – those moments when the coffee spills, the plan fails, and only a punchline can help.

Award-Winning Punchlines and Strong Stage Presence

For SHIT HAPPENS, Ralph Ruthe received the Sondermann Prize at the Frankfurt Book Fair in the Cartoon category four times in a row from 2005 to 2008. His live shows tour through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, creating a unique comedy atmosphere with clear stage technology, precise timing, and a distinctive visual language.

A Laugh Experience for Cartoon Fans

At the Theater LEO17, closely knit punchlines meet large projections, animation sequences, and musical elements. The audience reaction is not solely generated by the spoken gag: a glance, a drawn movement, or a surprising image montage is enough for the audience to erupt in collective laughter. This makes the show particularly interesting for fans of cartoons, dark humor, visual comedy, and creative live entertainment.

Conclusion: Laugh Live Instead of Just Scrolling

Ralph Ruthe demonstrates with SHIT HAPPENS – The (new) Show how cartoons can create an entire stage spectacle. Visitors can expect an energetic mix of stand-up, readings, music, animation, and witty drawings. Those who want to experience Ruthe's humor not just on the screen but in the middle of a lively comedy atmosphere should secure their evening at the Theater LEO17.
