A Celebration for Ida: Music and Literature at Gasteig HP8

On Friday, October 16, 2026, GEDOK Munich dedicates a literary-musical salon to Ida Dehmel in Hall X of Gasteig HP8. Contemporary poems, historical references, and music by female composers spanning more than a century come together for an evening concert blending chamber music, song, and literary remembrance.

An Evening for a Pioneering Female Artist

Ida Dehmel provided decisive impulses for art and co-founded the largest interdisciplinary network for female artists in Europe with GEDOK in 1926. The program places her cultural-historical significance at the center while also bridging to the present.

Poems Meet Diverse Sound Colors

Sabine Jörg presents contemporary poems, while Gunna Wendt contributes a piece on Ida Dehmel. Works by female composers from the early 20th century to the present resonate, including Nadia Boulanger, Alma Mahler, Rebecca Clarke, Paule Maurice, Gloria Coates, Dorothee Eberhardt, Dorothea Hofmann, Narine Khachatryan, and Eva Kuhn.

Voice, Flute Sounds, Hammered Dulcimer, and Piano

The musical ensemble opens an unusually colorful sound image. Marie Tremblay-Schmalhofer, Barbara Hesse-Bachmaier, and Eva Kuhn take on the vocals. Monika Olszak switches between flute, alto flute, and alto saxophone. Lisa Schöttl brings in the hammered dulcimer, while Sylvia Hewig-Tröscher and Miku Nishimoto-Neubert provide precise accompaniment on piano for a chamber music structure.

A Literary-Musical Salon with Attitude

The concert combines music history, poetry, and stage performance into a concentrated overall experience. An atmosphere emerges among voices, instrumental colors, and spoken words, where historical perspectives and contemporary art meet directly. The orchestration remains transparent, and the sound thrives on the interaction between text, song, and instruments.

Conclusion: An Evening of Discovery

A Celebration for Ida promises a multifaceted concert experience with compelling literature, varied chamber music, and a strong cultural-historical perspective. Those wishing to experience the connection between classical, contemporary composition, and poetic word live will find a special evening full of sound colors and inspiration at Gasteig HP8.
