Puccini's Messa di Gloria Meets Mendelssohn's Violin Concert

On Sunday, October 11, 2026, the Parish Church of the Holy Family in Munich-Harlaching will transform into an impressive concert hall for sacred choral music and romantic instrumental art. The program features Giacomo Puccini's Messa di Gloria as well as Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Violin Concerto in E minor.

Between Sacred Space and Grandeur of Sound

Puccini's Messa di Gloria combines the festive breath of a mass with the melodic directness and dramatic tension that would later characterize his operas. Choir, solo voices, and orchestra unfold a colorful orchestration where lyrical lines meet powerful tutti moments.

Virtuoso Violin and Romantic Sound Language

Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor adds a key work of romantic concert literature to the program. The solo violin is at the center of music that intertwines technical precision, brilliant passages, and sensitive cantilenas. In collaboration with the ensemble, a concert experience full of movement, tension, and musical synchronization is created.

Featuring Munich Artists

Ulli König is announced as the soloist on the violin. Shawn Roth takes the tenor part, and Zhe Liu the baritone part. The voices will be accompanied by Ensemble Lodron and the choirs of the Parish Association Harlaching. The musical direction brings the various sound bodies together for a tightly structured choral-symphonic evening.

Live Atmosphere in the Holy Family

The acoustics of the church space give the choral pieces a special expansiveness. Soft vocal lines can open directly into the space, while the grand crescendos of the Messa di Gloria promise an intense audience atmosphere. Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto adds a bright, virtuosic contrast.

Conclusion: An Evening Concert for Choir and Classical Music Lovers

The Munich choir concert connects Puccini's sacred sound world with Mendelssohn's romantic virtuosity. Visitors can expect a varied program with choir, soloists, orchestra, and violin in an atmospheric church space. Those who want to experience great voices, colorful orchestration, and immediate live atmosphere should mark this concert date at the Holy Family.
