Mozartissimo! Munich Concert Evening for the 270th Birthday
On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the Herkulessaal of the Munich Residence will be transformed into a space for festive sonic splendor, dramatic tension, and timeless beauty. The Munich Concert Choir and the Residence Orchestra Munich dedicate a concert program to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, combining sacred choral music, brilliant string sounds, and great symphonic emotion.
Festive Voices and Radiant Orchestral Colors
The evening begins with the Vesperae solennes de Confessore KV 339. Mozart's 1780 work created in Salzburg unfolds its effect through precise choral movements, expressive solos, and a colorful orchestration. In the acoustics of the Herkulessaal, clear vocal lines meet festive instrumental passages, creating a concentrated, celebratory live atmosphere.
Youthful Elegance in the Divertimento
Next on the program is the Divertimento D major KV 136, a piece Mozart composed at the age of 16. Lightness, dance-like impulse, and the elegant synchronization of the strings characterize this piece. The Residence Orchestra Munich presents the music with transparent sound and smooth stage performance, immersing the audience in the special atmosphere of the concert hall.
The Requiem as an Emotional Climax
At the center of the evening is Mozart's Requiem in D minor KV 626. The unfinished late work belongs to the most compelling compositions in music history. Between dark timbre, dramatic intensification, and spiritual intensity, a concert experience arises that brings together choir, soloists, and orchestra in great musical tension.
Renowned Participants in the Herkulessaal
On stage are Laura Richter, soprano, Aline Quentin, alto, Manuel Günther, tenor, and Micha Matthäus, bass. Together with the Munich Concert Choir and the Residence Orchestra Munich, they create an evening dedicated to Mozart under the artistic direction of Robert Blank with historical significance and great emotional reach.
