Juan de la Rubia brings the Michael organ to life
For the festive conclusion of the 18th Munich Organ Autumn, Juan de la Rubia will perform on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at the Jesuit Church of St. Michael. The organist of the Sagrada Família in Barcelona will present a concert on the large Michael organ, inviting the audience into the sonorous world of international organ music.
Masterful organ art between Bach and improvisation
The program includes works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Francisco de Araújo, and Charles Tournemire, as well as improvisations. The stylistic range connects baroque clarity, French colors, and the spontaneous creativity of improvisation. Juan de la Rubia is among the prominent organists of his generation with his international concert activities.
Live atmosphere in Munich's Jesuit Church
In the baroque Jesuit Church of St. Michael, the organ reveals impressive acoustic depth. Bright registers, powerful basses, and finely nuanced timbres fill the church space, making the concert an intense experience for lovers of classical music and church music.
Experience music visibly
A video transmission brings the happenings on the organ loft to a large screen in the church space. This allows the audience to experience not only the orchestral sound effect of the organ but also the stage performance, synchronization, and precise work at the console up close.
A splendid festival conclusion
The Munich Organ Autumn presents renowned organists from Barcelona and Paris in its 18th edition, as well as a versatile program spanning early music, romanticism, modernity, and improvisation. Juan de la Rubia will set the final musical accent of this international festival series with his concert.
