Raffaele Casarano brings Italian jazz to life
On Thursday, November 5, 2026, Hall X in Gasteig HP8 will transform into a resonance space for modern jazz. Raffaele Casarano presents central works as part of his European Live Tour and provides insights into his upcoming album. The concert begins at 7:30 PM, with doors opening at 6:30 PM.
Between Salento, jazz tradition, and the present
Raffaele Casarano is considered one of the defining voices of the new Italian jazz generation. As a saxophonist, composer, and producer, he combines the musical roots of Salento with the sound language of the African American diaspora and contemporary influences. His music opens spaces for unexpected connections and makes distant sound worlds appear familiar.
A concert with an international horizon
Casarano has collaborated with renowned artists such as Richard Bona, Sting, Noa, Nguyên Lê, Rhani Krija, Nicolas Vicaro, and Paolo Fresu. Fresu has also signed him to his label Tuk Music. This international experience shapes his stage performance: saxophone lines meet rhythmic agility, nuanced orchestration, and a sound that oscillates between lyrical expansiveness and urban energy.
Live atmosphere in Hall X
Gasteig HP8 creates an immediate concert atmosphere, where every breath of the saxophone, every rhythmic shift, and every dynamic build-up becomes palpable. Casarano shapes his pieces with precise synchronization, open conducting, and an expressive stage presence. The audience can expect an avant-garde jazz experience that combines Mediterranean warmth, improvised communication, and contemporary sound aesthetics.
An evening for curious jazz ears
The European Live Tour is aimed at all who want to experience jazz not as a fixed format but as a lively movement. Between composed passages and spontaneous moments, a concert experience emerges with changing colors, clear contours, and surprising twists.
