The Slackers bring New York Ska energy to Feierwerk

On Friday, October 23, 2026, Hansa 39 in Munich’s Feierwerk will transform into a meeting point for ska, reggae, and soul fans. The Slackers from New York will take the stage at 8:30 PM and blend Jamaican grooves with soul, rocksteady, dub, and a distinctive live dynamic.

New York Sound between Ska, Reggae, and Soul

Since their founding in 1991, The Slackers have developed their own sound within the international ska scene. Organ, guitar, saxophone, trombone, bass, and drums interplay to create a warm, fluid orchestration. The sound remains deeply rooted in rocksteady, while also opening up to soul, jazz, and reggae.

A Band with Decades of Stage Experience

With fifteen or sixteen released albums, numerous singles, and thousands of concerts, The Slackers are among the most experienced live bands in their genre. The New York Times called the group the sound of New York. The album Don’t Let the Sunlight Fool Ya from 2022 also marked a special success: it was the first Slackers album to enter the Billboard charts.

Live Atmosphere with Horns, Groove, and Movement

In Hansa 39, the compact club atmosphere of Feierwerk meets the powerful band sound of the sextet. Precise synchronization, striking horn sections, and Vic Ruggiero's characteristic voice create a concert experience that oscillates between dance floor, soul session, and charged ska club. The audience's mood thrives on the direct exchange between stage and hall.

Current Tour through Europe

The Munich concert is part of a European tour in the fall of 2026. After stops in several cities across Europe, The Slackers will perform in Munich on October 23, before continuing to Berlin and Prague. Doors open at 7:30 PM, and the concert begins at 8:30 PM.

Conclusion: Experience Ska History Up Close

The Slackers combine musical experience, relaxed stage performance, and an unmistakable New York sound. Anyone who wants to experience ska, reggae, and soul in an intense club atmosphere should secure their date for October 23, 2026, and see the band live at Feierwerk.
