Chamber Music for Peace: Thinking of Peace in Gilching
On Friday, October 30, 2026, the Ensemble Camerata Monaco invites you to an urgent chamber music evening in the event hall of the Gilching Town Hall. Under the title Thinking of Peace, the concert combines music and poetry with a highly relevant peace appeal.
Romantic Sound Worlds and Contemporary Voices
The program spans a wide musical arc from Romanticism to the present. Works by Johannes Brahms, Joseph Fuchs, Edvard Grieg, Maurice Ravel, and Sergei Rachmaninoff encounter the expressive sound language of Gloria Coates. This creates a concert experience between lyrical warmth, complex harmonies, and avant-garde sound colors.
An Ensemble with Diverse Instrumentation
The Camerata Monaco shapes the evening with Barbara Hesse-Bachmaier on vocals, Kelvin Hawthorne on viola, Sven Ahnsjö on cello, Stefan Blum on drums, and Miku Nishimoto-Neubert on piano. The mixed instrumentation opens space for finely tuned dialogues between voice, string instruments, piano, and percussive impulses.
Music as a Peace Appeal
The concert is named after the poem cycle of the same name by Sabine Jörg, which was composed for voice, viola, and piano by Kent Gabler in 2024. Another focus is Gloria Coates' work Voices of Women in Wartime, where experiences of women from wartime become audible in expressive vocal lines and concentrated instrumental passages.
Between Brahms, Ravel, and Gloria Coates
The dramaturgy leads from the clarity of Robert Fuchs and the multifaceted harmonies of Brahms to Ravel's sophisticated tonal design and the intensity of Rachmaninoff. The program is complemented by a drum solo by Stefan Blum based on a text from the Navajo, which musically condenses the idea of the first peace.
Conclusion: An Evening with Echo
Thinking of Peace promises a focused and moving chamber music experience with strong contrasts, unusual instrumentation, and a clear social message. Those who want to experience music not just as sound, but as a resonant space for hope, memory, and understanding, will find a special concert evening in Gilching.
