Between partner cities and perspectives: A photographic dialogue that connects
Under the guiding motif Same yet different, a concentrated artistic experience unfolds at the Bürgerhaus Unterschleißheim: pairs of images from Unterschleißheim and the French partner city Le Crès enter into a lively dialogue. The vernissage on April 22, 2026, at 7 PM invites short films and image shows into the exhibition atmosphere – the ideal start for an aesthetic experience between everyday life, culture, and form.
Visual correspondences: Two cities, about 20 themes
At the center of the work examination are about 20 jointly selected themes that have been photographed in both cities. Colors, lighting moods, and image rhythms let similarities flash, while urban textures, traditions, and faces contour the differences. This results in precisely curated image pairs that do not illustrate but argue – photography as a juxtaposition and instrument of knowledge.
Curated formats: From the shot to the presentation
The project was collaboratively realized: In Le Crès, hobby photographers shot and edited images, while in Unterschleißheim, members of the Foto- und Videoclub Lohhof e.V. participated. The careful selection and hanging focus on image tension, line guidance, and spatial effect. The curation sharpens transitions between architectural fragments, nature motifs, and social scenes – an invitation to consciously perceive image composition, image field depth, and serial structure.
City partnership as cultural practice
Since 1973, Unterschleißheim and Le Crès have been connected by a lived partnership. This exhibition translates European coexistence into aesthetic evidence: A look at the commonalities of life worlds, while respecting the other. Cultural proximity, regional peculiarities, rituals – and the subtle poetry of everyday life become visible.
Sensory impressions: Light, material, surface
Photographic materials, contrasts, and grain create differentiated surfaces: velvety twilights, graphic shadows, reflecting facades. The shift from wide-angle to detail studies, from documentary stance to experimental condensation expands the spectrum between observation and interpretation. Thus, a multifaceted aesthetic experience arises that transforms the space of the Bürgerhaus into a visual think tank.
