The Hedgehog – Our Spiny Knight: An Exhibition for Nature Lovers
Spiky, nocturnal, and familiar in our gardens: The exhibition The Hedgehog – Our Spiny Knight invites visitors to the Gilching Town Hall for an informative exploration of the life of a native wild animal. The roll-up exhibition by BUND Naturschutz combines knowledge of nature, cultural education, and concrete suggestions for an hedgehog-friendly everyday life.
Insights into the Hedgehog's Habitat
The exhibition follows the hedgehog through its annual cycle – from hibernation to the rearing of its young. Visitors learn how the hedgehog lives, what its diet consists of, and why it depends on nature-friendly gardens as a cultural follower. The informative panels convey ecological connections in an easily understandable manner and open up a new aesthetic experience regarding native wildlife.
Recognizing Dangers in Urban Areas
Between roads, sealed surfaces, and well-kept gardens, the hedgehog's habitat is becoming increasingly smaller. The exhibition shows typical dangers in urban areas and explains how to identify a hedgehog in need of help. Thus, the exhibition serves as a practical introduction to species and nature conservation.
Making a Big Impact with Small Changes
The focus is on easily implementable tips for hedgehog-friendly gardens: wild corners, safe passages, and responsible feeding in times of need create valuable retreat spaces. Additionally, the exhibition informs about the Hedgehog Challenge and how citizen science can help better understand and protect the hedgehog population.
A Unique Artistic Experience
The five large roll-ups unfold a clear, informative exhibition atmosphere in the interior of the town hall. Images, text, and natural history presentation combine into a focused installation that appeals to families, children, and adult nature enthusiasts alike. The exhibition demonstrates how cultural education and ecological responsibility interconnect.
Conclusion
The artistic experience at the Gilching Town Hall opens up a perspective on a quiet neighbor, whose survival is closely linked to our everyday life. Those wishing to learn more about the lifestyle, protection, and habitat of the hedgehog will discover well-founded information and practical actions here. A visit enriches the aesthetic experience and strengthens awareness for nature conservation right at one's doorstep.
