The Hedgehog – Our Spiny Knight: Discovering and Protecting Nature

Spiny, nocturnal, and at home in many gardens: The exhibition The Hedgehog – Our Spiny Knight invites you to the town hall of Gilching to get to know one of the most popular native wild animals better. The informative roll-up exhibition by BUND Naturschutz combines natural knowledge, environmental education, and practical tips for hedgehog protection.

Insights into the Hedgehog's Annual Cycle

Illustrative exhibition panels accompany the hedgehog through important stages of its life – from hibernation to raising young. Visitors will learn how the nocturnal cultural follower lives, what it feeds on, and how to recognize a needy animal.

Habitat between Garden and Settlement

The habitat of the hedgehog is shrinking. Sealed areas, tightly enclosed gardens, and dangers in the human environment make it difficult for the animal to find food and retreat safely. The exhibition makes these connections understandable and shows why nature-friendly gardens play an important role for biodiversity.

Practical Impulses for Hedgehog Protection

The event experience does not stop at biological facts. The exhibition provides concrete suggestions for everyday life: wild garden corners, safe passages, suitable retreat places, and responsible feeding practices in times of need help our spiny neighbors. Questions surrounding the hedgehog challenge and citizen science will also be addressed.

For Families and Nature Enthusiasts

The calm event atmosphere in the town hall foyer creates a focused setting for nature enthusiasts of all ages, families, garden owners, and anyone interested in native wildlife. From an event planning perspective, the format combines professional information with low-threshold outreach to target groups and a direct reference to one’s own living environment.

Conclusion: Knowledge that Resonates in Your Own Garden

If you want to better understand the hedgehog and actively protect its habitat, you will experience an informative encounter with a fascinating native wild animal at the town hall of Gilching. The exhibition provides understandable knowledge, raises awareness of dangers, and offers practical ideas to take with you.
