From October 9th to 25th, 2026, Gilching transforms under the motto "Together.WORK" into a versatile stage for art, music, theater, literature, and encounters. The community of Gilching, together with local cultural creators, associations, institutions, and volunteers, invites everyone to an inspiring multi-day experience for all generations.

A festival that connects the community

The 12th Gilchinger Art and Cultural Week brings culture to numerous venues throughout the municipality. The program connects local initiatives with artists from other regions, creating a vibrant community feeling right in Gilching. Concerts, readings, theater, exhibitions, workshops, and participatory offerings make the festival week an open meeting point for culture enthusiasts, families, and curious explorers.

Music, theater, and literature in a diverse lineup

Kicking off on Friday, October 9th, is a concert by Gankino Circus with the program "The Opposite of Rock’n’Roll." Virtuoso music, quirky stories, and a lot of humor come together to open the cultural week with an energetic mix of tradition and modernity.

In the following days, the artist lineup ranges from classical, jazz, pop, and folk music to cabaret, theater, and literature. Highlights include high-profile concerts, author readings, an opera, children's theater, and the Long Museum Night at SchichtWerk. This creates a festival dramaturgy that offers both intimate cultural moments and community highlights.

Exhibitions and creative participatory offerings

Visual arts, film, lectures, and creative workshops expand the program with interactive formats. Particularly families and young visitors have many opportunities to become part of the cultural week. In the children and youth participatory exhibition, participants aged 3 to 16 create their own images on the theme of solidarity. The individual works will form a large community artwork that will be unveiled in the town hall on October 25th.

Festival atmosphere at many locations

Instead of a single festival site, the event spreads throughout the municipality. The town hall, SchichtWerk, vhs, schools, and other cultural venues become stages for encounters and discoveries. This decentralized festival organization gives the cultural week its special character: visitors switch between concerts, exhibitions, readings, and workshops, experiencing Gilching as a culturally vibrant place.

A conclusion for the next generation

The Children's and Youth Cultural Day on Sunday, October 25th, provides a festive conclusion. Young talents and creative participatory offerings are at the center, and the overall artwork from the children's and youth participatory exhibition will be presented. This emphasizes the cultural week's commitment to not only showcase culture but to shape it together.

Conclusion: Experience culture together live

The 12th Gilchinger Art and Cultural Week connects concert atmosphere, exhibition visits, theater experiences, literature, and creative encounters into a diverse festival for all generations. Those who want to discover the cultural diversity of Gilching and experience the motto "Together.WORK" up close will find numerous reasons to visit from October 9th to 25th, 2026.
