Together.WORK: Gilching becomes a stage for art and culture

From October 9 to 25, 2026, Gilching will transform into a versatile cultural space. Under the motto "Together.WORK," the municipality of Gilching invites local cultural creators, clubs, and institutions to the 12th Gilchinger Art and Culture Week. Over more than two weeks, concerts, theater, readings, exhibitions, workshops, and participatory offerings will create a varied multi-day experience for all generations.

A festival that moves the whole community

The Art and Culture Week spreads across numerous venues in the municipal area. This creates a special festival atmosphere: not just a single stage, but all of Gilching will become a backdrop for cultural encounters. The program brings together regional initiatives, committed cultural creators, and curious visitors.

The event series is organized by the municipality of Gilching in cooperation with local cultural creators. Since its premiere, the culture week has developed into an integral part of local cultural life. Previous editions have combined music, theater, literature, visual arts, film, lectures, and interactive activities at many venues.

Concerts, theater, and powerful stories

The kickoff will be the concert of the band Gankino Circus on Friday, October 9, with the program "The Opposite of Rock'n'Roll." Virtuoso music, quirky stories, humor, and joy of playing come together. The evening connects Rock'n'Roll and village life, tradition and modernity into an energy-filled festival moment.

In the course of the event, the audience can expect concerts, plays, readings, and special formats from the local cultural scene. The Art Forum Gilching will participate, among other things, with the chamber music program "Classics & AI – between tradition and future" featuring Rebekka Hartmann and Andreas Begert. Works by Johannes Brahms, Edward Elgar, and Fritz Kreisler will enter into a dialogue with new compositions.

Light, image, and sound at Wersonhaus

A special highlight will occur from October 16 to 18, 2026, when the facade of the Wersonhaus becomes a projection surface. In "The Museum Shines!", museum objects from Bavarian and Roman times will be newly staged in large-format video clips, accompanied by music. The light, image, and sound installation will run between 7:30 PM and 10:00 PM in regular intervals. Admission is free, donations are welcome.

Creativity for children, teenagers, and families

Young visitors will also be in the spotlight. The Children's and Youth Cultural Day on Sunday, October 25, invites participation and discovery at the town hall. A communal artwork will be presented there, created from many individual contributions, representing the motto "Together.WORK" visibly.

With exhibitions, workshops, and interactive offerings, the culture week opens spaces for personal ideas. The program is aimed at families, culture enthusiasts, children, teenagers, and everyone who wants to not only observe art but also experience it themselves.

A cultural festival with a sense of community

The Gilchinger Art and Culture Week represents a lived festival culture beyond traditional large events. Instead of a central main stage, various venues, changing formats, and personal encounters shape the experience. This is exactly what creates the community feeling: culture is shaped, discovered, and carried forward together.

The 12th edition builds on a grown tradition. The 11th Art and Culture Week thrilled nearly 3,000 visitors with over 50 events at 13 venues. The current program continues this diversity with new impulses, local collaborations, and intergenerational offerings.

Conclusion: Experience culture together

The 12th Gilchinger Art and Culture Week brings together music, theater, literature, exhibitions, light art, and participatory offerings at many locations. Visitors can expect a varied cultural festival with strong local accents and numerous opportunities for encounters. Those who want to experience Gilching creatively in October should not miss this multi-day experience.
