Mission Ulja Funk: A thrilling space adventure for young movie fans

On Friday, October 30, 2026, the Great Children's Cinema at Gasteig HP8 will screen the award-winning adventure film Mission Ulja Funk. The showing in the projector in Hall E begins at 3:00 PM and is aimed at children from around nine years old as well as their families.

A mission between stars and streets

The twelve-year-old amateur astronomer Ulja Funk discovers that a meteorite is hurtling toward Earth and will strike in Belarus in two days. For Ulja, it's clear: she must witness the impact with her own eyes. Together with her classmate Henk, she embarks on an unusual journey across Europe.

Tension, humor, and an unusual friendship

Since Henk can already drive a car at 13, the astronomical discovery quickly turns into an adventurous escape on four wheels. The film combines road movie pace with childlike curiosity, dry humor, and a touching story about friendship, courage, and one’s own view of the world.

Award-winning family cinema

Mission Ulja Funk was produced in 2021 as a German-Luxembourg-Polish production directed by Barbara Kronenberg. The 92-minute production received the “Especially Valuable” rating from the German Film and Media Assessment and an award from the Youth Film Jury. The imagery, dynamic narrative pace, and precise character portrayal make the film a strong cinematic experience for young explorers.

Live atmosphere in the projector

In the cinema hall of Gasteig HP8, the large screen, concentrated sound, and the tense audience atmosphere of a children's cinema come together. As Ulja and Henk follow their mission, a concert experience without a stage emerges: light, music, and montage synchronize into an adventurous journey that pulls young viewers right into the action.

Conclusion: Starting the adventure together

Families can expect a imaginative and award-winning children's cinema experience featuring meteorites, road trips, humor, and a strong story of friendship. Those who are excited about thrilling film images and an extraordinary journey through Europe should experience Mission Ulja Funk live at Gasteig HP8.
