Disney The Hunchback of Notre Dame: A Musical Epic at the German Theatre
When the bells of Notre Dame ring, a dramatic cosmos of passion, exclusion, and hope opens up at the German Theatre Munich. Disney The Hunchback of Notre Dame combines great musical melodies with a moving story and takes the audience right into the Paris of Victor Hugo.
A Story Between Shadows and Longing
At the center is Quasimodo, who grows up hidden high above the rooftops of Paris and yearns for closeness and freedom. His encounter with Esmeralda calls into question the order of a world where power, prejudice, and religious fanaticism determine human fates. The dramaturgy unfolds an emotional tension between inner dignity and outer judgment.
Musical Theatre with a Rich Sound Language
The music by Alan Menken, the lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and the book by Peter Parnell give the musical its characteristic blend of symphonic breadth, catchy themes, and dramatic intensity. Choral scenes, solo parts, and orchestral soundscapes shape a stage experience that condenses the theatrical atmosphere between sacred grandeur and human vulnerability.
Visually Powerful Staging in the Theatre Hall
The German Theatre presents the production as an exhilarating new staging. The set design, lighting atmosphere, and costumes create the framework for a world between cathedral, narrow alleys, and the rooftops of Paris. The direction combines acting, singing, and choreographic movement into a musical evening of great visual power.
An Evening Full of Passion, Drama, and Hope
The performance on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, begins at 19:30 and is expected to end around 22:00. The German Theatre announces a runtime of about two and a half hours for the production. Tickets are available from 40.50 euros.
Disney The Hunchback of Notre Dame awaits its audience as an emotional stage experience with compelling music, strong characters, and a story that resonates long after the final chord. Those who love grand musical productions, expressive acting, and atmospheric theatre will experience an evening of goosebumps and hope at the German Theatre.
