Disney The Hunchback of Notre Dame: Great musical artistry at the German Theater

On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the German Theater Munich will transform into the Paris of Victor Hugo. Disney The Hunchback of Notre Dame tells the moving story of the bell ringer Quasimodo, who lives high above the rooftops of the city and yearns for closeness, freedom, and recognition.

A story about humanity and exclusion

At the center of the staging is Quasimodo, who steps out of his secluded world for the first time at the Feast of Fools. The encounter with the brave Esmeralda leads him into a dramatic tension of compassion, power, prejudices, and justice. The storyline connects Victor Hugo's literary classic with the emotional imagery of the Disney musical.

Alan Menken's music meets grand stage designs

The music by Alan Menken and the lyrics by Stephen Schwartz give the story its distinctive sound. Choir, live orchestra, and catchy musical numbers create a powerful acoustic, while costumes, lighting mood, and set design evoke the gothic atmosphere of Notre-Dame.

German-language new production of the Budapest Operetta Theater

The German-language production of the renowned Budapest Operetta Theater relies on classic scenic theater and effective dramaturgy. Following the successful production Disney Beauty and the Beast, which reportedly reached more than a million viewers, the staging will embark on a major tour through Germany and Switzerland starting October 2026.

A stage experience for musical fans and families

The performance combines acting, choral singing, orchestral richness, and spectacular set designs. The emotional story about friendship and inner beauty is aimed at a broad audience and is recommended in German for ages ten and up. The stage experience lasts about two hours and 55 minutes, including a break.

Conclusion: Experience a moving musical live

Disney The Hunchback of Notre Dame promises an evening full of dramatic contrasts: monumental music meets intimate emotions, fairy-tale theater atmosphere meets a story of social exclusion. Those who love grand musical productions, impressive stage art, and emotional audience reactions will experience a special theater evening at the German Theater Munich.
