Community Library Gilching | Opening Hours & Online Catalog
The Community Library Gilching is more than just a place to borrow books for many people in the area. It is a non-profit, public, and not-for-profit cultural institution of the municipality of Gilching, which, according to its statutes, serves education, information, and leisure activities. This is what makes its special value: Here, everyday relevance, reliable service, and a wide range of media come together. The municipality refers to novels, non-fiction books, films, audiobooks, e-books, and magazines, while the district provides the library's address, contact details, and opening hours. Thus, the Community Library Gilching is a compact, practical point of contact for families, students, working professionals, seniors, and anyone who wants to read, learn, or browse in Gilching without hassle. ([gilching.de](https://www.gilching.de/fileadmin/user_upload_2019/PDF/Satzungen_Verordnungen/2024-07-23__Satzung_der_Buecherei_ab_01.09.2024.pdf))
Opening Hours of the Community Library Gilching
Those who wish to visit the Community Library Gilching should keep an eye on the fixed opening hours. According to the official district address publication, the library is open on Mondays from 15:00 to 18:00, Tuesdays from 08:00 to 12:00 and from 15:30 to 19:00, and Thursdays from 08:00 to 12:00 and from 15:30 to 19:00. Additionally, the library opens every 1st Saturday of the month from 10:00 to 12:00. The usage regulations state that the opening hours are set by the municipality and publicly announced. This is an advantage for visitors, as it makes the library clearly planable and reliably integrable into daily life. Especially for short visits after school, work, or errands, this is helpful, as the longer afternoon hours on Tuesday and Thursday make spontaneous pickups and returns particularly uncomplicated. ([lk-starnberg.de](https://www.lk-starnberg.de/index.php?FID=613.841.1&ModID=9&NavID=613.4343&object=tx%2C613.4096.1&utm_source=openai))
Another plus point is the structure of the opening hours themselves. The Community Library Gilching not only offers classic morning hours but also two afternoons with extended hours and a fixed Saturday appointment each month. This is beneficial for people who have little flexibility during weekdays or need to consciously schedule their visits within a small time window. In practice, this means: Those who are new to Gilching can easily incorporate the library into their weekly rhythm; those who have lived in the area longer quickly memorize the fixed times. Clear times are also useful for parents with children, as returns and new loans can be planned and easily combined with school routes or other appointments. The library thus does not appear as a random place with an opaque rhythm but as a stable, easily accessible service point in community life. ([lk-starnberg.de](https://www.lk-starnberg.de/index.php?FID=613.841.1&ModID=9&NavID=613.4343&object=tx%2C613.4096.1&utm_source=openai))
Online Catalog, Library Card, and Loan
A central keyword around the Community Library Gilching is online, and this is where its modern side shows. The municipality refers to the web OPAC at cloudopac.winbiap.de/gilching/index.aspx, which is the digital catalog of the library. There, inventories can be researched and media can be checked in advance. For the actual use of the loan, the usage regulations require personal registration: Users must register by presenting a valid ID or an equivalent identification document and receive a library card. Children and teenagers up to the age of 15 also need the consent of a legal guardian on the registration form. This is a clear, transparent process that combines both security and ease of handling. The library remains openly accessible but is also well organized. ([lk-starnberg.de](https://www.lk-starnberg.de/index.php?FID=613.841.1&ModID=9&NavID=613.4343&object=tx%2C613.4096.1&utm_source=openai))
The usage rules are also easily understandable for readers. According to the statutes, the Community Library Gilching is available for media loans to all community members; persons living outside the municipality are allowed to use it at any time until revoked. Therefore, those who borrow media receive a classic municipal library solution with clear responsibilities. The loan period for books and foreign language courses is four weeks, while for magazines, CDs, DVDs, Tonies, and games, the loan period is two weeks. An extension is possible as long as there is no reservation by other users. The statutes also point out that overdue fees may apply if the loan period is exceeded. This reliability makes the library attractive for regular users: One knows how long they can keep something, how the extension works, and that the loan does not depend on chance but on clear rules. ([gilching.de](https://www.gilching.de/fileadmin/user_upload_2019/PDF/Satzungen_Verordnungen/2024-07-23__Satzung_der_Buecherei_ab_01.09.2024.pdf))
Media Offer from E-Books to Magazines
The media offer is one of the strongest reasons why many people search for the Community Library Gilching. The municipality's homepage explicitly states that there are novels, non-fiction books, films, audiobooks, e-books, magazines, and much more available. In conjunction with the usage regulations, which mention the loan of all kinds of media, a picture emerges of a versatile, modern community library that goes far beyond just a bookshelf. This is important for different target groups: Those seeking entertainment will find novels; those researching for school, work, or interest will turn to non-fiction books; those who prefer to listen or watch will use audiobooks and films; those who want to read flexibly will benefit from digital formats. Thus, the classic library becomes a cross-media place where various reading and learning habits come together. ([gilching.de](https://www.gilching.de/?utm_source=openai))
Particularly noteworthy is the inclusive character of the collection. The page for Barrier-Free Gilching mentions that the Community Library offers novels in easy language for borrowing. This is an important signal as it shows the library as an open place for various linguistic and cognitive needs. Therefore, those seeking simple, easily understandable literature will find here not just a symbolic offer but a concretely named collection. Together with the regular loan periods for books, magazines, and audiovisual media, a service emerges that covers both everyday needs and special requirements. Thus, the library can help children with their first independent reading, provide teenagers with easier access, enable adults to find quick entertainment, and offer older adults a manageable selection. Especially in a municipal context, this mix of diversity and low-threshold access is particularly valuable, as it is not only aimed at frequent users but at the entire community. ([gilching.de](https://www.gilching.de/gesellschaft-soziales/inklusion/barrierefreies-gilching/?utm_source=openai))
Address, Contact, and Photos of the Library
The address of the Community Library Gilching is clear and centrally located: Rathausplatz 1 a, 82205 Gilching. Additionally, the phone number is 08105 386688, and the email address is buecherei@gemeinde.gilching.de. This contact information is useful not only for inquiries but also for people who need reassurance before their first visit or want to inquire about loans, library cards, or opening hours. The fact that the library is located in the town hall area underscores its municipal character: It is part of public life and not just some anonymous offer. Therefore, those searching for the Community Library Gilching address or phone number receive a precise, official entry point. This is particularly helpful for new residents, as they can quickly find the library and contact it without detours. ([lk-starnberg.de](https://www.lk-starnberg.de/index.php?FID=613.841.1&ModID=9&NavID=613.4343&object=tx%2C613.4096.1&utm_source=openai))
In the case of the keyword photos, the situation is somewhat different: The official municipal sources primarily provide functional information, while public third-party profiles occasionally show interior views. One such profile lists the Community Library Gilching as a Public Library and shows an interior view. For the search intention photos, this means in practice: Those looking for a first visual impression will find images more on external profiles; those needing reliable facts will refer to the official municipal and district pages. This combination is quite typical for local institutions, as the administration publishes legally and organizationally reliable information, while photos are often supplemented by review or location platforms. Thus, the library can be categorized both factually and visually without relying on unclear or outdated information. ([top-rated.online](https://www.top-rated.online/cities/Gilching/place/p/15613701/Gemeindeb%C3%BCcherei%2BGilching?utm_source=openai))
Events, Easy Language, and the Role as a Community Library
The Community Library Gilching is not only a lending point but also a cultural place with a public mandate. The statutes explicitly describe it as a non-profit, public, and not-for-profit cultural institution. This is important because it distinguishes its character from purely commercial offerings. The usage regulations also state that the library serves education, information, and leisure activities. For the municipality, it is a place where knowledge becomes accessible and where leisure is organized not arbitrarily but meaningfully and community-oriented. This is exactly why events fit so well into this environment. The municipality refers to its event overview and regularly lists offerings from the library there; this makes the library a part of the cultural life in Gilching and not just a lending counter with shelves. ([gilching.de](https://www.gilching.de/fileadmin/user_upload_2019/PDF/Satzungen_Verordnungen/2024-07-23__Satzung_der_Buecherei_ab_01.09.2024.pdf))
Additionally, the offer in easy language shows how consciously the library considers various user groups. Those who are just starting to read in German, those who prefer simple language, or those who consciously rely on understandable texts receive an accessible entry point with the novels mentioned there. In conjunction with the clear loan duration of four weeks for books and two weeks for magazines and audiovisual media, an offer is created that does not seem overwhelming but is pleasantly structured. The public rules also support this impression: There is a library card system, clear deadlines, the possibility of extension, and clear responsibilities for late returns. This reliability builds trust. Those who use the Community Library Gilching know what to expect and experience a library that is municipal, modern, and at the same time approachable. This makes it a relevant part of everyday life in Gilching and a place that one visits not only for a specific title but also for its atmosphere. This makes it a relevant part of everyday life in Gilching and a place that one visits not only for a specific title but also for its atmosphere. Very good library, very quiet and very nice staff. There are also adult novels on the lower floor, and sometimes sales take place there. However, the selection for some multi-volume books is sometimes a bit lacking. Please acquire more.

Great, always helpful team. Even during the Corona lockdown, the best service was provided here. The opening hours are great and convenient for both working professionals and families. Keep it up!

The library is a pleasant place. The ladies are very friendly and helpful. The best part is, if it's not there, it will be ordered... even new releases!
