Oberlin Church - church in Oberlinhaus | Services & Directions

The Oberlin Church is much more than a single building on the grounds of the Oberlinhaus. It is the spiritual center of the campus in Potsdam-Babelsberg, a place of encounter, and a space where faith, music, community, and diaconal action come together. The church community describes the Oberlin Church as the central space where services are regularly held, community is lived, and musical formats are cultivated. This makes it a church that is not isolated but is rooted in the everyday life of a large social campus. For visitors looking for a church in Potsdam-Babelsberg, it offers clear orientation: Here, it is about devotion, openness, and a palpable togetherness. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/unternehmen/ideeller-bereich/kirchengemeinde?utm_source=openai))

The Oberlinhaus itself is a diaconal competence center for participation, health, education, and work in the Berlin-Brandenburg region. With more than 2,300 employees, several companies, and locations in Potsdam, Berlin, and Brandenburg, it is a large, vibrant campus with a long tradition. In this environment, the Oberlin Church is, in a sense, the heart of the idealistic area: It is not only a sacred place but also a visible sign of the Christian character of the house. This connection between social responsibility and church life shapes the character of the location and explains why the Oberlin Church is equally valued for services, cultural events, and encounters. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/?utm_source=openai))

Church Community, Services, and Spiritual Life

The church community at Oberlinhaus has existed since 1895 and explicitly sees itself as open to all people. This openness is not just a guiding principle but is reflected in concrete formats that regularly take place on the campus. These include services, community gatherings, musical offerings, and pastoral care. Particularly noteworthy are the faith course, confirmation classes, sensory services, the Oberlin choir, and the welcome blessing offered every last Wednesday of the month. Thus, the community not only appeals to church-oriented visitors but invites people of all ages and very different life realities. Those looking for a church that is simultaneously spiritual, inviting, and socially embedded will find a very clear point of connection here. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/unternehmen/ideeller-bereich/kirchengemeinde?utm_source=openai))

Especially for inquiries related to church, community, and spiritual offerings, the Oberlin Church is exciting because it combines traditional church practice with an inclusive environment. In the everyday life of the Oberlinhaus, church is not limited to Sunday but is part of a larger culture of accompaniment. This is evident in the fact that there are also devotions, discussions, training sessions, and meetings on campus. The Oberlin Church is the place where this diversity is bundled. It serves as a meeting point for employees, residents, patients, and students of the Oberlinhaus, making it a space where faith is not abstract but becomes tangible in togetherness. This closeness to people makes the place interesting for seekers, community members, and guests from Potsdam and Berlin. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/unternehmen/ideeller-bereich/kirchengemeinde?utm_source=openai))

The event program also shows how broad the church and cultural life is here. The Oberlin Church has hosted and continues to host festive events, devotions, Advent events, film nights, and concerts. Examples include the festive event for the 30th anniversary of early intervention, a service as part of the Advent market with all senses, and the screening of the documentary about Johann Friedrich Oberlin. Such events make it clear that the church in the Oberlinhaus is not just a space for liturgical rituals but also a place for public, communal, and culture-related encounters. So, those looking for events in the Oberlin Church will find a very lively mix of faith, education, and culture. Directions, Parking, and Public Transport

The journey to the Oberlin Church is well described and can be easily planned for visitors from Potsdam as well as from Berlin. Those arriving by car should follow the A115 to the Potsdam-Babelsberg exit and continue via Nuthestraße to the Babelsberg exit, according to Oberlinhaus. The grounds are accessible via Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße 24. This clear route is helpful because the Oberlinhaus is not just a church but a larger campus with several facilities. Therefore, anyone attending an event at the Oberlin Church should briefly check the directions in advance to ensure a stress-free arrival and orientation. Especially for guests coming from Berlin, the connection via the highway and the S-Bahn junction Babelsberg is practical. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/kontakt/lage-anfahrt?utm_source=openai))

When it comes to parking: The parking spaces directly on the grounds are limited. The Oberlinhaus describes access via Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße 24 and points out that the parking spaces open and charge automatically via license plate recognition. The rates are tiered: free for up to 30 minutes, 2.00 euros for up to 60 minutes, and then 1.00 euro for each additional 30 minutes, with a maximum daily rate of 15.00 euros. Payment is made at the ticket machine shortly before exiting by entering the license plate, either in cash or by card. For visitors in a hurry, it is important to know that after payment, only 15 minutes remain until exit. Those who want to stay longer or want to be on the safe side should plan some extra time. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/kontakt/lage-anfahrt?utm_source=openai))

In addition to the parking spaces on campus, there are also other paid parking options nearby, such as in surrounding streets or in Weberpark, according to Oberlinhaus. For a more environmentally friendly arrival, public transport is also very well suited. Bus lines, trams, and S-Bahn trains lead close to the campus, including to Potsdam, Rathaus Babelsberg, or S Babelsberg. Especially for guests from Berlin, the S7 is a practical way to reach the Oberlin Church without searching for parking. Cyclists also benefit, as there is a bike station nearby, including opposite Rathaus Babelsberg. This makes the location easily accessible for both local visitors and out-of-town guests. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/kontakt/lage-anfahrt?utm_source=openai))

Oberlin Organ, Music, and Cultural Events

A special search term related to the Oberlin Church is the organ, and there is indeed a strong musical connection here. The Oberlinhaus magazine mentions the restoration of an organ over 100 years old in the Oberlin Church. This is not just a technical detail for a church but a cultural indication that music traditionally plays an important role here. A historical organ gives a special tone color to a service or concert, and this connection between space and music shapes many visitor experiences. So, those searching for Oberlin organ or Oberlin Church organ will find a credible point of connection that underscores the character of the church as a musical place. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/fileadmin/Oberlinhaus/Mediathek/Oberliner_Magazin/Oberliner_150Jahre_web.pdf?utm_source=openai))

The event examples from Oberlinhaus also show how diverse the musical and cultural use of the church is. For instance, there has been a traditional Christmas concert by the Cantamus Potsdam chamber choir in the Oberlin Church, as well as festive events and film screenings. The Advent market with all senses regularly begins with a service in the church before the program moves out to the grounds. Thus, the church is not limited to a single purpose but serves as a stage for singing, words, film, and communal celebrations. This versatility makes it interesting for people looking for cultural or festive events in addition to classic services. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/news/weltliche-und-geistliche-weihnachtslieder-vom-bunten-cantamus-chor?utm_source=openai))

The atmosphere is additionally shaped by the fact that the church is situated in a larger social-diaconal environment. Music in the Oberlinhaus is not just decoration but part of an attitude where community, participation, and expression come together. This is evident in formats such as the sensory service or events involving different ensembles and choirs. For visitors, this means that entering the Oberlin Church is not just about experiencing a sacred space but a place where sound, language, and social encounters are interconnected. This mix is particularly relevant for inquiries aiming for a culture-shaped church experience in Potsdam-Babelsberg. History of the Oberlinhaus and the Oberlin Church

The name Oberlin refers to Johann Friedrich Oberlin, the Alsatian pastor and reformer who is considered the founder of organized childcare in Europe. The Oberlinhaus consciously carries this name because the diaconal work of the house has historically been linked to education, care, and social responsibility. The official history page explains that Oberlin was born in 1740 and died in 1826, and that his work radiated far beyond his original environment. The reference to him is not just symbolic but continues to shape the identity of the house to this day. Therefore, the Oberlin Church is not just any church in Potsdam but part of a tradition that connects religious faith with practical help for people. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/unternehmen/ueber-uns/geschichte/johann-friedrich-oberlin?utm_source=openai))

The Oberlinhaus itself has a long history. The official anniversary page describes the history since 1871 and refers to the major upheavals that the house has accompanied over time: growth, wartime, the years in the GDR, and the phase after reunification. Today, the Oberlinhaus is one of the largest employers in Potsdam and is active at many locations in Potsdam, Berlin, Brandenburg, and Wolfsburg. The church community has been part of this development since 1895. This means that the Oberlin Church is not only architecturally central but also historically embedded in a community culture that has grown over generations. For people interested in history and identity, this is a significant added value of this location. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/unternehmen/ueber-uns?utm_source=openai))

Particularly interesting is how the church's and the social history in the Oberlinhaus interpenetrate. The historical presentations of the house indicate that medical, educational, professional, and social tasks were early brought together on a spiritual basis. As early as around 1900, the concept of complex rehabilitation was excellent, and in later decades, the house continuously developed. This continuity explains why the Oberlin Church is perceived so naturally as a center today. It is not just a remnant of past times but the visible expression of a guiding principle that aims to accompany, educate, and treat people. For an SEO profile, this means: The Oberlin Church convincingly connects history, identity, and current use. Accessibility, Campus, and Practical Notes

A strong feature of the Oberlin Church is its accessibility. An event notice explicitly mentions that the church is barrier-free and heated. For visitors, this is an important practical advantage because the place is thus not only accessible but also comfortable to use. The Oberlinhaus has also gradually redesigned the campus around the church in recent years. New pathways between the church, main building, and other facilities have been made barrier-free, and the church forecourt has been redesigned. As a result, the Oberlin Church is now even more integrated into a contemporary, walkable campus structure. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/news/oberlin-auf-den-spuren-eines-einzigartigen-lebens-dokumentarfilm?utm_source=openai))

The official reporting on the Campus RB24 also shows how important the environment of the church is for the overall impression. There is talk of a comprehensive redesign around the Oberlin Church that not only improves the pathways but also enhances the quality of stay. The annual report 2024 also highlights the successful completion of the portal restoration of the Oberlin Church, indicating the great significance of the building within the campus. When a house is described as the architectural and spiritual heart, it is a strong indication that here, not only function but also identity, atmosphere, and history interact. This is exactly what makes the location so special for visitors. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/news/oberlin-auf-den-spuren-eines-einzigartigen-lebens-dokumentarfilm))

For orientation on the grounds, there is a site plan with all facilities of the main site at Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße 24. On this plan, the Oberlin Church is clearly positioned as part of the campus. This is particularly helpful for events, services, or family visits because the Oberlinhaus consolidates several facilities at one location. Therefore, those coming to the church can check in advance where the paths, entrances, and neighboring buildings are located. Together with the information on parking, S-Bahn, tram, and bus, this creates a very user-friendly overall picture. The Oberlin Church is thus suitable for people specifically looking for a barrier-free church in Potsdam-Babelsberg, as well as for visitors who need a well-connected event venue. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/kontakt/lage-anfahrt?utm_source=openai))

Practically speaking, the Oberlin Church is a place that is very well suited for planning purposes: The address is clear, the journey is described, the parking rules are transparent, and the location is easily accessible by S-Bahn from Berlin and Potsdam. However, those wishing to attend events should still plan some time due to the limited parking spaces and the possible occupancy of the campus. At the same time, the surrounding streets and Weberpark offer alternative options. This mix of clear orientation, historical depth, accessibility, and cultural openness makes the Oberlin Church a strong address for religious and cultural visitor flows in Potsdam-Babelsberg. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/kontakt/lage-anfahrt?utm_source=openai))

In the end, the Oberlin Church remains above all a vibrant place for faith, music, and human closeness. It is embedded in the history of the Oberlinhaus, benefits from a carefully developed campus structure, and is used for services, celebrations, concerts, and encounters. Those looking for a place where Christian life is openly, diaconally, and invitingly visible will find a convincing address here. It is precisely the connection between tradition and present that makes the location so valuable: old roots, current use, good accessibility, and an environment that not only describes social responsibility but lives it visibly. A very peaceful little Protestant church on the Oberlin grounds, but freely accessible. A special feature is the truly beautiful baptismal angel. Recently, a pair of falcons has also taken up residence in the tower. Interesting exhibitions are held here quite frequently.
