They are the largest facility of this kind in Potsdam and provide suitable working and learning conditions for people with intellectual and physical disabilities, mental impairments, hearing and visual impairments, as well as autism. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/angebote-leistungen/arbeit?utm_source=openai))

The website mentions 12 areas of work, and the workshops also offer production and services for companies from industry and services, for crafts and trades, as well as for private customers. This not only pursues internal employment goals but also processes real orders that are needed in everyday life. This results in the double value of the location: it creates meaningful work for people with disabilities and is simultaneously a reliable partner for the regional economy. The workshops are therefore not an isolated place, but a place of encounter between social mission and practical performance. This attitude is clearly recognizable in the official texts of the Oberlinhaus. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/angebote-leistungen/arbeit?utm_source=openai))

The Oberlinhaus explicitly emphasizes that it supports people in developing their skills and learning to handle work materials and tools. This results in a work environment that is individually accompanied while still pursuing high professional standards. Products such as brushes, brooms, and ceramic products were also presented at events, and there are honey and honey products from in-house production. Handmade Christmas products are also part of what visitors can discover at markets. These examples show that the workshops combine manual, technical, and creative activities. For customers, this is attractive because they receive various services from a reliable, regionally rooted institution. For employees, it is valuable because the activities are tangible, varied, and application-oriented. This leads to a work atmosphere where productivity and participation do not appear as opposites but strengthen each other. ([ideal.oberlinhaus.de](https://ideal.oberlinhaus.de/?utm_source=openai))

The economic integration of the workshops is also evident in that they appear as partners of the region in corporate discussions and networking meetings. The business association Brandenburg-Berlin stated after a visit to Hermannswerder that the workshops offer diverse qualification and job opportunities and are an important partner for the local economy. They provide services for industry, services, crafts, trades, and private customers. This external perception is a plus for the location: it confirms that the work of the workshops is not only socially valuable but also practically usable. Therefore, when users search for Oberlinhaus Workshops Potsdam or Oberlin Workshops Berlin, it is often about more than just a place. It is about quality, cooperation, and a social model that is economically viable. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/news/auftakt-der-potsdamer-gespraeche-in-den-werkstaetten-im-oberlinhaus?utm_source=openai))

Sustainability, Photovoltaics, and Modern Infrastructure
The Oberlinhaus Workshops are not only socially and economically well-positioned but also technically and ecologically. On the roof of the main building at Hermannswerder 5, the Oberlinhaus operates a 600 square meter photovoltaic system with 98 kWp capacity, according to its own sustainability page. After commissioning in January 2022, more than 20 tons of CO2 were saved within four and a half months; during the same period, 51,933 kWh of electricity were generated. An integrated storage system with 67.8 kWh helps secure excess electricity for self-consumption. It is also important for the practical infrastructure that the system supplies two public charging stations, each with two charging points. These details show that the location not only focuses on social work but also on modern energy and mobility solutions. For users searching for sustainable facilities in Potsdam, this is a strong signal. For visitors and employees, this means a better connection between sustainable action and practical use. Additionally, the workshops regularly focus on understandable communication. The workshops are the largest facility of this kind in Potsdam and provide work and employment for around 400 people in 12 areas of work. At the same time, they repeatedly open up for visitors, for example during markets, tours, or informational events. This creates various points of contact for residents, customers, relatives, and interested parties that go far beyond a mere production site. Those searching for Oberlin Workshops Berlin often refer to the regional context of Berlin-Brandenburg; the official self-presentation of the Oberlinhaus emphasizes this integration into the region. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/kontakt/impressum?utm_source=openai))
For the SEO consideration of this location, Google Autocomplete signals show primarily two directions: on one hand, there is the concrete search for the place in Potsdam, and on the other hand, the classification in the broader Berlin area. This results in the most important thematic fields for the site: work and employment, access and parking, tours and events, production and service offerings, history, as well as sustainable and modern infrastructure. These themes also shape the perception of the workshops on-site. The Oberlinhaus operates within a Christian-diaconal framework and places value on professional offerings, personal attention, and the strengthening of participation. For seekers, it is important to understand that this is not a place with show operations or event programs in the classical sense, but rather a vibrant workplace with public openness. Therefore, the workshops can be classified as both a social actor and a practical service provider. This makes the location particularly relevant for private orders, for companies, for partners from the region, and for visitors interested in inclusive work environments. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/angebote-leistungen/arbeit?utm_source=openai))
Work and Employment in the Oberlinhaus Workshops
The central strength of the Oberlinhaus Workshops lies in the connection between professional work and individual support. According to the official website, the workshops are an officially recognized workshop for people with disabilities by the Federal Employment Agency. They are the largest facility of this kind in Potsdam and provide suitable working and learning conditions for people with intellectual and physical disabilities, mental impairments, hearing and visual impairments, as well as autism. This breadth is important because it shows that the location cannot be reduced to a single target group or a single form of support. Instead, a differentiated offering is at the forefront, addressing the skills, interests, and development goals of the employees. Those searching for workshops Potsdam, workshop for people with disabilities, or work and employment will find here not just a mere service operation, but an established, socially oriented institution with a strong regional connection. The number of around 400 employees illustrates the size and significance of the location. At the same time, the official description makes it clear that it is about development, support, and concrete participation in working life. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/angebote-leistungen/arbeit?utm_source=openai))
The work in the Oberlinhaus Workshops is intentionally designed to be versatile. This is also evident in reports about networking meetings and company visits, where guests were able to get to know the work areas and experience the inclusive working method. The workshops are therefore not an isolated place, but a place of encounter between social mission and practical performance. For the search intent around Oberlinhaus Workshops Potsdam, this means: those who land here are usually looking for a place where work is not only productive but also thought of as human and supportive. This attitude is clearly recognizable in the official texts of the Oberlinhaus. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/angebote-leistungen/arbeit?utm_source=openai))
Qualification is also a fixed component of the concept. The official description refers to the vocational training area as well as to work-accompanying measures for personal development. This shows that the workshops see themselves not only as a workplace but also as a place for learning and development. For many people, this combination is crucial because it offers not only an activity but also perspective and stability. The Oberlinhaus explicitly emphasizes that it supports people in developing their skills and learning to handle work materials and tools. This results in a work environment that is individually accompanied while still pursuing high professional standards. This is also relevant for potential clients because the workshops do not present themselves as a purely niche operation but as a structured partner with clear processes. At the same time, the social core remains visible: the activity serves not only production but also participation in social life. Therefore, those who visit or commission the Oberlinhaus Workshops in Potsdam always support an inclusive model of work that combines professional quality and social responsibility. Access and Parking at Hermannswerder 5
Those wishing to visit the Oberlinhaus Workshops should know the location at Hermannswerder 5, 14473 Potsdam. The location is on the Potsdam peninsula Hermannswerder and is thus geographically well-placed, but not right in the classic city center. For this reason, the question of access and parking is particularly important for many users. The Oberlinhaus provides its own page that explains how to get there by bus, tram, bicycle, and car. For drivers, there are free parking spaces on the premises that are not assigned to a license plate. The rates are clearly regulated: parking is free for up to 30 minutes, costs 2.00 euros for up to 60 minutes, and then 1.00 euro for each additional 30 minutes. The maximum daily rate is 15.00 euros. Payment is made at the ticket machine just before exiting by providing the license plate, either in cash or by card. It is also important that the exit should occur within 15 minutes; otherwise, additional parking fees may apply. These tips are particularly useful for visitors, customers, and guests because they provide planning security and make the location practical for everyday use. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/kontakt/lage-anfahrt?utm_source=openai))
Additionally, the Oberlinhaus points out that there are further paid parking options in the surrounding streets and in Weberpark. For those who prefer to come by bicycle, a bicycle station near the premises is mentioned; directly across from the Babelsberg Town Hall, there is a station from the provider Nextbike according to the official site. Even though the workshops themselves do not present as a pure visitor destination with extensive event logistics, the accessibility is well described. This is an important plus point, especially for families, business partners, or people traveling for tours and markets. The combination of car, bicycle, and public transport access fits the open character of the location. Since bus and tram are explicitly mentioned on the location page, it can be assumed that public transport connectivity is a fixed part of visitor orientation. For SEO inquiries such as access, parking, or hermannswerder 5 potsdam, this is a relevant benefit factor: interested parties receive not only an address but also concrete, practical information about arriving on-site. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/kontakt/lage-anfahrt?utm_source=openai))
The location on Hermannswerder also shapes the perception of the site. It conveys both tranquility and independence, as well as proximity to the city of Potsdam and the Berlin-Brandenburg regional area. This mix makes the place attractive for visitors looking for a social institution with a clear structure but without hustle and bustle. For people with limited mobility or special planning needs, it is helpful that the Oberlinhaus transparently describes not only the address but also the parking and access conditions on its website. In conjunction with the open attitude of the workshops, this creates a location that is easily accessible and well-explained. Particularly at a place that is often used not only by employees but also by guests, clients, and event visitors, this orientation is an important quality feature. Therefore, the journey is not a minor issue but part of the benefit: those who know the location can efficiently plan visits and orders and know in advance what routes and costs to expect. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/kontakt/lage-anfahrt?utm_source=openai))
Guided Tours, Advent Market, and Other Events
Although the Oberlinhaus Workshops are primarily a workplace, they repeatedly open up for events and visits. This is particularly evident in the monthly guided tours that the Oberlinhaus mentions in its sustainability section. There, employees of the workshops take over the spoken passages, and the content is prepared by the VHS Potsdam in easy language. This is a strong signal for genuine participation because visitors are not only guided through spaces but are accompanied by the people who work there. This is a valuable access point especially for schools, partner companies, families, and interested groups. The workshops thus become explainable, illustrative, and approachable. For search terms like tours, workshops potsdam, or accessibility, this creates real added value. The tour is not just a walk but a communicative format that creates understanding of work, inclusion, and production processes. The fact that these tours take place regularly speaks for a permanent opening and not just for individual exceptional dates. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/unternehmen/nachhaltigkeit?utm_source=openai))
In addition, various event reports show that seasonal formats also take place on Hermannswerder. The Advent market on Hermannswerder invites people to get to know the work of the workshops, purchase handmade Christmas products, and enjoy coffee, cake, popcorn, waffles, and cotton candy at the café. Honey from in-house production is also offered, and for children, there are crafting activities, competitions, cookie baking, stick bread, and a reading of the Christmas story. The Easter market also featured workshop tours, Easter games, crafting offers for children, spring flowers, honey products, and handmade products such as brushes, brooms, and ceramics. These events are therefore SEO-relevant because they cast the workshops in a lively light for many users: the place is open, inviting, and clearly connected to its social mission. It is not about mass entertainment but about encounters, insights, and regional connections. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/news/adventsmarkt-auf-hermannswerder?utm_source=openai))
Another testament to the openness of the location are networking and discussion formats. For example, at the Potsdam discussions, a business association with more than 30 participants was hosted on Hermannswerder. Guests were able to get to know the workshops and their work areas, gain insights into production and service offerings, and exchange ideas about cooperation opportunities. Such events demonstrate that the workshops are not only publicly accessible but also economically relevant. They create a space where social participation and entrepreneurial interest come together. Additionally, a theater workshop was opened in 2025, where employees can learn acting. This is also not a common offering feature but an example of how diverse life on the premises is. Overall, a picture emerges of a location that cannot be reduced to a single format. For people looking for events on Hermannswerder or an open workshop visit, the Oberlinhaus is therefore a place with surprisingly much content and a clear social orientation. The Oberlinhaus Workshops are not only a social learning and employment place but also a practical service provider. This is important because it distinguishes the location from a purely internally oriented institution. Real orders are processed here that are needed in various areas of daily life. The workshops are thus a partner for the local economy and at the same time a place where employees can gain concrete professional experience. ([oberlinhaus.de](https://oberlinhaus.de/news/auftakt-der-potsdamer-gespraeche-in-den-werkstaetten-im-oberlinhaus?utm_source=openai))

For example, the workshop reports on professional repairs, such as in a bicycle workshop with modern equipment and a well-stocked spare parts warehouse. Other reports mention powder coatings carried out for vehicle parts or garden gates.
Based on my experience, I can say that church values are not represented in this institution. Unfortunately, I was bullied during my time at the Oberlin workshops, including by Mr. Schielicke and Mr. Kaschubowski.

As a driver for a transport service, I had only picked up a few people from there in the afternoon (and also driven them there in the morning). They told me that they felt very well cared for and looked after there, in addition to apparently good food (they mentioned shared breakfasts and lunches).
