SAP Garden | Tickets & Events
The SAP Garden in Munich is more than just a new sports arena: It combines top-level sports, public ice surfaces, modern architecture, and clear visitor guidance in the midst of the Olympic Park. The multifunctional arena was opened to the public on September 27, 2024, and is the new home of EHC Red Bull Munich as well as an additional venue for FC Bayern Basketball. At the same time, it offers a year-round experience for fans, families, and event guests with three public ice surfaces, tours, gastronomy, and event spaces. Those looking for tickets, events, parking, seating plans, or ice skating will find one of the most modern and versatile addresses in Munich here. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/seiten/sap-informationen?utm_source=openai))
Tickets, Events, and the Current Program at SAP Garden
The search interest surrounding the SAP Garden clearly focuses on tickets and events, and this is where the official event calendar plays a central role. The SAP Garden lists home games of EHC Red Bull Munich and FC Bayern Basketball, as well as arena tours, ice sports offerings, and other sporting events. According to official facts, up to 40 additional sporting and sport-related events are planned each year. For visitors, this is practical: Those who want to check today's or upcoming programs do not have to resort to third-party sites but can directly check the event area and ticket shop for available dates. This is particularly relevant for search queries like sap garden today, sap garden events, or sap garden tickets, as game dates, tours, and special formats are bundled together. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/seiten/sap-garden-zahlen-fakten))
The ticket access is also clearly structured. Tickets for public ice skating can be purchased online and at the box office on-site, while 5-visit tickets and group tickets are only available on-site. The advance sale for the following week starts on Fridays at 2:00 PM. This regulation is important for all those specifically looking for tickets, ice skating, or skating, as it explains why certain slots can be quickly sold out and why early planning is advisable. Those expecting additional cultural or show formats should regularly check the calendar, as the SAP Garden is explicitly designed as a flexible arena for many types of events. The interplay of professional sports, leisure offerings, and special events makes the location highly searchable and content-rich. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/de/seiten/eissport-faqs))
For the search intent sap garden today or sap garden tickets, it is also important to know that the ticket world is not only intended for major game days. Arena tours have had a fixed place in the offering since January 2025 on event-free days and showcase the location beyond game operations. This makes the SAP Garden interesting for guests who want to discover the arena as an experience venue, not just attend a match. The official ticket and event structure is thus a clear advantage: current dates, thematic categories, and direct booking options create a simple user journey without detours. For content and SEO, this means that search terms like tickets, events, and today should not be viewed in isolation but as a coherent user intent: people want to know what is currently happening, how to get tickets, and whether they can still use additional offerings like tours or ice skating on-site. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/kalender/arena-touren))
Access, Parking, and the Main Entrances
Regarding parking, the SAP Garden provides very concrete information: Directly in front of the arena is the parking harp with 3,500 parking spaces, accessible via Toni-Merkens-Weg or from the north via Bundesstraße 2R. The official address is Toni-Merkens-Weg 4, 80809 Munich. Due to construction work on Landshuter Allee, the operator recommends accessing via Georg-Brauchle-Ring for the time being. Those arriving by car should also plan for possible waiting times at the exit after events when fully booked. The note to pay for parking directly after entering at the machine is therefore practical and currently important. For search terms like sap garden parking and sap garden access, this combination of parking spaces, access routes, and payment logic is particularly relevant. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/seiten/anreise))
In addition to cars, the SAP Garden also relies on public transport and short routes for cyclists. For larger events, the operator explicitly recommends arriving and departing by subway; the stops mentioned are Gern (U1/U7), the tram stop Olympiapark West (lines 20 and 21), and the bus stop Toni-Merkens-Weg with line 144, which according to the official site operates until 8:00 PM. Additionally, there are 600 free bicycle parking spaces available on the stadium grounds. The visitor flow is clearly organized through entrances: E1 is the main entrance, E2 and E3 serve as guest entrances depending on the sport, E6 is the access for visitors with online tickets in the leisure and recreational sports area, E7 leads to the HENRY restaurant, E8 is for season ticket holders and visitors without online tickets, and E10 is the VIP access. This structure makes the location understandable for users and reduces inquiries about seats, paths, and queues. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/seiten/anreise))
Practical rules are also part of the access and visit experience. For events, larger bags than A4 size and umbrellas are not allowed, but small bags are. Payment at the kiosks around the arena is only cashless, while cash is still accepted at HENRY and in the leisure and recreational sports area at snack machines and the box office. These details are often crucial for visitors as they directly influence the process. Therefore, those searching for key terms like parking, access, or seats expect not only an address but reliable guidance, payment information, and good orientation on-site. This is where the SAP Garden shows its strength as a modern arena with structured visitor communication. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/seiten/anreise))
Ice Skating and Skating at SAP Garden
A key unique feature of the SAP Garden is the public ice sports offering. In addition to the large multifunctional hall, there are three additional ice surfaces under the arena that are publicly accessible for leisure and recreational sports. Offers such as public ice skating, free skating, ice dancing, figure skating, and stick skating are organized there. The SAP Garden thus not only has a classic event function but also a real everyday and seasonal function for Munich residents and guests of the city. For search queries like sap garden ice skating and sap garden skating, it is particularly important that public ice sports take place not only sporadically but within a clearly defined seasonal framework. The city of Munich has booked almost 8,000 ice times per season from August 1 to April 30 on the three ice surfaces, highlighting the long-term role of the location in recreational sports. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/kalender/eissport?utm_source=openai))
The ticket logic is clearly regulated. Tickets for public ice skating offers can be purchased online and at the box office on-site, while advance sales start on Fridays at 2:00 PM for the upcoming week. Discounts are available for certain groups such as holders of the Munich Pass, students, BFD and FSJ participants, persons with severe disabilities from GdB 50, retirees, and holders of the volunteer card. Additionally, the official FAQ points out that 5-visit tickets function as stamp cards and do not guarantee a specific slot if a time slot is already sold out. It is also important for visitors: Cancellation of purchased tickets is not possible, and there are no refunds or credits. These are tough but helpful facts for all who want to combine ice skating and tickets. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/de/seiten/eissport-faqs))
The practical comfort is high: A skate rental is located directly in the SAP Garden near the ice surfaces, accessible via entrance E6 or behind E6 on level -1. The rental times are staggered by weekdays, and both hockey and figure skates in various sizes are available. Furthermore, there are clear instructions for using lockers and changing rooms. The ice disco has its own process with entry, rental start, and box office opening before the event; it takes place from October to April on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Children from 6 years old are allowed to participate, but those between 6 and 13 years old may only do so when accompanied by a person at least 18 years old. This makes the SAP Garden attractive for families and young visitors looking for a safe and well-organized skating experience. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/seiten/schlittschuhverleih-skate-shop?utm_source=openai))
The SAP Garden is particularly strong in special formats on the main playing surface. Public ice skating on the Main Rink took place for the first time on December 21, 2024, and the arena regularly uses such special dates for thematic ice skating offerings. This includes inclusive ice events and seasonal specials that open the location beyond the classic sports operation. This is important for SEO and content because search intents like today, ice skating, and tickets often expect a spontaneous experience. The SAP Garden responds with a very current, bookable, and versatile ice sports concept. So, those looking for a modern ice surface with good infrastructure, clear times, and professional rental will find one of the most exciting addresses in Munich here. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/news/eislaufen-auf-der-hauptspielflaeche-des-sap-gardens?utm_source=openai))
Seating Plan, Seats, and Capacity Overview
For users searching for seating plans, seats, or places, the official 3D planning of the SAP Garden is a central tool. The operator provides 3D floor plans and complements them with site plans for levels 00, 01, 0, -1, and -2. This makes orientation before the visit significantly easier, as entrances, levels, and areas can be better understood. Especially in a modern multifunctional arena with different usage types, this is important: An ice hockey game, a basketball evening, an arena tour, or an event in the hospitality area may each require different paths and sightlines. The search intent behind sap garden seating plan is therefore not only graphical but also practical: visitors want to know where they will sit, how to get to the right level, and what areas are in the building. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/seiten/sap-garden-3d-saalplaene))
The capacity data shows how flexible the SAP Garden is built. The maximum total capacity is 11,500 people. For ice hockey, 10,796 seats are indicated, of which 10,013 are pure seating. Additionally, there are up to 2,329 standing places that can be fully converted into seating. More than 100 wheelchair spaces, 1,111 business seats including box seats, and 11 VIP boxes with space for 178 guests make the arena versatile in the premium and accessibility-related area as well. For visitors interested in sap garden capacity or sap garden seats, these numbers are particularly relevant as they precisely describe the character of the venue: large enough for top-level sports and special events, yet differentiated enough for varying comfort demands. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/seiten/sap-garden-zahlen-fakten))
The spatial structure is also remarkable. In addition to the main arena, the SAP Garden has three additional ice surfaces with a total area of around 5,400 square meters. One of the surfaces accommodates 600 spectators, while the other two each accommodate 200. In total, there are 18 access points to the spectator area. This distribution shows that the location is not only designed for major game days but also for training, leisure, youth, and event logic. The hall planning makes the SAP Garden particularly interesting for users looking not just for an address but for a clear, large, and functional sports complex. This combination of size, flexibility, and intelligent space distribution is one of the most important arguments in the SEO context around seats, seating, and capacity. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/seiten/sap-garden-zahlen-fakten))
Food, Hospitality, and the On-Site Experience
The topic of food is also well covered at the SAP Garden. The HENRY | Café - Restaurant - Bar is the public restaurant of the arena and is located on level 01, accessible via the western entrance E7. It is open not only on event days but also outside of game operations, making it an independent meeting point for guests of the Olympic Park and the arena. The official opening hours vary by season: From April to October, HENRY is open Tuesday to Friday from 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM; from November to March, the hours are Tuesday to Friday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. It is closed on Mondays. On home game days for EHC Red Bull Munich and FC Bayern Basketball, special rules apply, such as earlier closing times for the public. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/seiten/gastronomie))
The culinary offering is deliberately practical for everyday use and event-related at the same time. HENRY focuses on a wide range of regional and international dishes, including salads, sandwiches, wraps, focaccia, pasta, pizza, burgers, and sweet options like ice cream and Kaiserschmarrn. This mix aligns with the search intent sap garden food, as visitors are looking for not only an arena but also reliable gastronomy that works before or after the event. Additionally, hospitality plays an important role: The SAP Garden collaborates with partner DO & CO and offers a high-quality hospitality concept on three levels. A total of 1,111 seats are available in this area. VIP boxes, lounge areas, and exclusive services cater to guests seeking a premium experience. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/news/willkommen-im-henry-restaurant?utm_source=openai))
The arena experience is also complemented by fan stores, kiosks, and service points. According to official facts, there is, among other things, an FC Bayern Munich Fan Gate, an EHC Red Bull Munich Fanstore, several fan stores on game days, 13 kiosks, and additional shops in the VIP area. For many visitors, this mix is crucial: they want not only to watch the game but also to buy fan merchandise, eat something, orient themselves, and take a break in between. The payment logic is important here: kiosks only accept cashless payments, while cash is still accepted at HENRY and in the leisure and recreational sports area at some points. This makes the SAP Garden particularly well-suited for a modern, fast, and clearly organized visitor experience. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/seiten/sap-garden-zahlen-fakten))
History, Architecture, and Sustainable Features
The history of the SAP Garden begins even before its opening with a clear plan: to complement the Olympic Park with a modern multifunctional arena. The architectural commission was awarded on February 14, 2019, to the Danish firm 3XN in collaboration with LATZ+PARTNER. The builder is Red Bull Stadion München GmbH. The name SAP Garden originated from a public naming process after SAP secured the naming rights in September 2018. Construction began on January 13, 2020, on the site of the former Olympic cycling stadium, with the groundbreaking taking place on February 23, 2021. The arena was finally opened to the public on September 27, 2024. This development explains why the SAP Garden appears both new and deeply rooted in Munich's Olympic Park. For search queries related to photos, history, and features, this is an important background, as the location is more than just a shell for games. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/seiten/sap-garden-zahlen-fakten))
Architecturally, the arena also sends strong signals. The SAP Garden presents itself as an oval solitary structure that respectfully integrates into the Olympic Park ensemble. The green roof with its nearly 8,000 square meters of flower meadow, the vertically structured facade, and the pilaster strips reminiscent of hockey sticks shape the image. According to official figures, the roof area covers 13,094 square meters, the facade area 6,114 square meters, and the total height inside is 29 meters. In 2026, the SAP Garden also received the Green GOOD DESIGN Award in the category of Green Urban Planning / Landscape Architecture. This award underscores the ambition to connect sports, design, and sustainable landscape architecture. Especially for visitors searching for sap garden photos or sap garden Munich for visual identity, this architecture is a strong argument. ([sapgarden.com](https://www.sapgarden.com/en/seiten/sap-garden-zahlen-fakten))
The technical equipment is also remarkable. The SAP Garden has its own mobile network with 350 mobile antennas and 335 WLAN antennas, allowing guests to use stable connections. In the main area, 500 TV screens, 212 speakers, over 1,000 LED floodlights, and more than 300 additional spotlights ensure strong visual and sound quality. The video cube system with 209 square meters of projection area and over 41 million LEDs is one of the most visible elements of the arena. For visitors, this means: The SAP Garden is not only functional but also media-wise and atmospherically up to date. This combination of modern technology, clear orientation, and urban integration makes the arena one of the most exciting event venues in Munich.
Really nice new stadium! We had seats in the upper section and still had a great view of the game. The atmosphere was excellent. Food and drinks didn’t take long, and getting the deposit back was quick as well. At the entrance, pay attention to the gender signs — there are separate lanes for women and men. If you end up in the wrong line, it can get a bit confusing and annoying. And don’t bring too big bags! But I think this should be clear :)

SAP Garden is a great venue with severe limitations. The arena itself is very modern, as would be expected, the facilities are great, concessions are conveniently located so one doesn't need to walk too far during game breaks, reasonably priced and serve large numbers of patrons quickly, personnel including security services are friendly, so based on my hockey experience, SAP Garden would qualify for five stars. The reason it doesn't is the completely unacceptable traffic - and most especially parking - situation. Granted, there is construction work on a part of a major access road (at least that is being stated, with visible evidence of any work actually being carried out conspicuously absent), which can delay access to the parking lot (except from the north, via Georg-Brauchle-Ring) until about December 2026, but the real problem is the departure from the parking lot after an event concludes, and this is absolutely not explained by construction work, as the exit into Georg-Brauchle-Ring is completely unaffected by any construction work. I was parked in near the centre of the parking lot, and more than 90 minutes after I had reached my car, none of the cars in my parking row and in any of the adjacent parking rows I could see had moved at all. I finally managed to exit the parking lot much later, and this is just completely unacceptable for a venue hosting anything but purely local and unimportant events. A contributing factor is, without doubt, the barrier system which takes forever to process license plates. Whoever planned this system should have taken a closer look at how other venues operate, and especially waived egress scanning completely, since parking fees can be prepaid or collected upon entrance. So this unacceptable situation is absolutely not due to any construction work, but to exceptionally poor and incompetent planning and execution. This is most regrettable, as public transport is generally not an option for anyone from outside the Munich metropolitan area (accessibility considerations aside), especially if they will return home the same night, and one's best guess, especially when travelling from the north, is to park at Fröttmaning P+R and take the tube from there (which also happens to be cheaper). Sadly, this reflects very negatively on the entire SAP Garden experience and disqualifies SAP Garden for any rating higher than 3.

I watched the Harlem Globetrotters at SAP Garden, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! The atmosphere was full of energy, laughter, and top-notch entertainment. A perfect mix of sports, humor, and acrobatics – the audience of all ages had a great time. SAP Garden is the ideal venue for such events: comfortable seating, great visibility from every angle, and efficient organization of entry and exit. If you get the chance to see the Harlem Globetrotters live, I highly recommend it – fun is guaranteed!
