Theater Drehleier | Program & Tickets
The Theater Drehleier & Theater restaurant Szenerie at Rosenheimer Str. 123 combines stage evenings, gastronomy, and Munich evening culture in one place. The official website describes the venue as a place where you can not only attend performances but also enjoy food and drinks right at the table. Tickets can be booked online and sent as an e-ticket via email; those who prefer to reserve in person or by phone can reach the team on event days during the specified office hours. For visitors, this mix of free seating, table service, and clear organization is pleasant because an evening here can be planned without complicated processes. It is exactly this combination of culture, service, and central location that makes the Drehleier interesting for cabaret fans, show lovers, and groups alike. ([theater-drehleier.de](https://theater-drehleier.de/?utm_source=openai))
Program, Tickets, and Free Seating
The official website intentionally makes ticket planning uncomplicated. The current program is continuously published, and the next highlights are directly accessible on the homepage and the program page. Tickets can be purchased online, e-tickets are sent via email, and reservations are also possible via email or by phone. On event days, the Szenerie office is reachable from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, which is particularly helpful if you have last-minute questions about availability, booking, or the evening's schedule. It is also important to note the free seating in the theater. Those who want to secure good seats should not arrive too late, as the house may assign seats for sold-out performances. For larger groups, seating is organized together at one table, ensuring that the evening remains relaxed in company. ([theater-drehleier.de](https://theater-drehleier.de/?utm_source=openai))
The profile of the Drehleier includes a program that consciously covers more than just one genre. The website continuously features new events, including cabaret, comedy, burlesque, concerts, and special show formats. The monthly Tatwort freestyle show is also explicitly part of the offering. This makes the venue suitable for people specifically looking for a particular artist or evening, as well as for guests who simply want to experience a varied cultural event in Munich. Those who regularly visit the program page quickly recognize that the Drehleier relies on changing content rather than a rigid repertoire. This is exactly what makes the venue interesting for repeat visits: today a cabaret evening, next time burlesque or music, and in between a special format that you won't find everywhere. ([theater-drehleier.de](https://theater-drehleier.de/?utm_source=openai))
Parking and Directions to Rosenheimer Str. 123
The address is clear and central: Rosenheimer Str. 123, 81667 Munich. For public transport access, the official website lists several nearby options. Particularly convenient are the S-Bahn stops Rosenheimer Platz and Ostbahnhof as well as the U-Bahn U5 to Ostbahnhof. This means the location is well connected to Munich's public transport and can be reached from many districts without a car. Especially in the evening, this is pleasant because you do not have to rely on finding parking in the immediate vicinity but can plan with a fixed arrival window. For visitors coming from Munich or the surrounding area, this clear public transport connection is an important advantage, as the way to the entrance remains simple and understandable. ([theater-drehleier.de](https://theater-drehleier.de/anfahrt?utm_source=openai))
For drivers, the website specifies the parking option at the City Hilton. The official directions currently do not provide more detailed information about parking garages or underground parking, so it is worth allowing a little extra time before the performance. Those who want to arrive relaxed should best combine the central location with an early departure or choose the S-Bahn or U-Bahn directly. This is particularly sensible if you want to have something to eat before the show or want to use the box office, reservation, or entry without stress. Overall, the directions page shows that the Theater Drehleier primarily focuses on good accessibility in the eastern part of Munich and addresses visitors by both train and car. For a smooth evening, the combination of a clear address, public transport connection, and a mentioned parking option is the most important practical orientation. ([theater-drehleier.de](https://theater-drehleier.de/anfahrt?utm_source=openai))
Food, Drinks, and the Theater Restaurant Szenerie
A special component of the venue is the theater restaurant Szenerie. According to the website, it opens on performance days from 6:30 PM, and food and drinks are served in the theater itself. This is a real plus for visitors because the evening is not only about the stage but also about arriving together, eating, and drinking before or during the event. The Drehleier is thus not a sterile multipurpose hall, but a place where culture and catering are consciously connected. Those who arrive on time can start the evening calmly, take a table seat, and prepare for the performance with drinks and a meal. Especially at cabaret or show evenings, this noticeably contributes to the atmosphere, as the audience does not appear rushed but plans the stay as a complete experience. ([theater-drehleier.de](https://theater-drehleier.de/?utm_source=openai))
The official price page also lists specific examples from the menu, which may change. Mentioned are, among others, carrot-ginger soup, various salad plates, Thai curry, pork schnitzel, chili con carne, and desserts like apple strudel or curd pancakes. This shows that the kitchen is not limited to snacks but offers a complete theater meal. For groups, it is important that table reservations are provided for larger parties, and a prepayment is required for eight or more people. The website also points out that table reservations can be canceled at 7:00 PM if the seats are not taken in time. Therefore, those who want to combine food, show, and sociability should order early, arrive on time, and take the restaurant's times seriously. This way, a theater visit becomes a rounded evening with clear structure and pleasant service. ([theater-drehleier.de](https://theater-drehleier.de/preise?utm_source=openai))
Seating Plan, Capacity, and Hall Technology
The large hall of the Theater Drehleier is equipped with tables and chairs and offers space for up to 199 people. This is a pleasantly manageable framework for Munich, as the distance to the stage remains small and the audience sits close to the action. The official description speaks of free seating, which additionally shapes the hall character: You arrive, choose your seat, and experience the evening in close proximity to the artists. For visitors, this means a personal atmosphere that is often missed in larger venues. At the same time, the capacity is large enough to economically and organizationally represent various event forms, from solo cabaret to show evenings to special formats. This balance of intimacy and sufficient size is a key reason why the Drehleier remains attractive to many guests. ([theater-drehleier.de](https://theater-drehleier.de/theater?utm_source=openai))
The venue is also well equipped technically. The website mentions a complete lighting and sound system with a technician, as well as a stage with a clear width of 6 meters and a depth of 3 meters, along with an additional side stage. The hall itself measures 15 by 11 meters and is thus clearly designed for compact but professional stage work. This is an important advantage, especially for cabaret, burlesque, music, and mixed show formats, as lighting, sound, and sightlines work together seamlessly. The Drehleier is also described on the website as a place for larger celebrations, which further underscores the combination of gastronomy, stage technology, and table seating. Those looking for a location with technical equipment, manageable size, and flexible use will find here a classic Munich venue with much practical benefit. ([theater-drehleier.de](https://theater-drehleier.de/theater?utm_source=openai))
History, Typical Events, and Special Impressions
The history of the venue dates back a long way. The official history page states that the Drehleier started in May 1976 at Balanstraße 23 and moved to Rosenheimer Straße 123 in 1997. The move was necessary, according to the website, because the former venue needed renovation. Thus, the Drehleier is not a new project but a well-established Munich address with a long continuity. The website also refers to 25 years of Drehleier at Balan-Pariserstraße and the 40th anniversary celebration in 2016. For visitors, this is important because when visiting such a venue, you are not only attending an event space but a place with history, established routines, and a clear cultural identity. Especially in a city with many changing event spaces, this consistency creates trust. ([theater-drehleier.de](https://theater-drehleier.de/geschichte?utm_source=openai))
The special perception of the venue also includes the combination of program diversity and recognizability. The event pages regularly feature different formats, from burlesque to comedy and cabaret to music evenings and special shows. One example is the monthly Tatwort freestyle show, another is the variety of burlesque and concert dates on the website. Additionally, many event pages offer press photos for download, which is practical for visitors interested in photos, impressions, and show aesthetics. The cabaret prize of the city of Munich 2011 awarded to Werner Winkler further emphasizes the cultural significance of the venue. Therefore, those who visit the Drehleier experience not just a stage but a long-established venue that connects artistic diversity, Munich gastronomy, and a very direct audience proximity. This is exactly what creates the special charm of this place: down-to-earth, lively, and clearly focused on evening entertainment with character. We joined a wonderful Burlesque Show of the 15th Anniversary of the Filly Follies yesterday. We enjoyed it a lot and it was a good entertaining Show for us all. Drehleier is well organized and for a small audience. We also got to eat some nice meals there and besides a menu, there is also a drinks menu. We will definitely come again. During the Show, it is forbidden to take pictures or filming.

Excellent stand up format - 10 acts, five in German, five English. Some were obviously established on the circuit, one in particular was obviously new and nervous, but still good. Packed full when we visited. Food and drinks delivered to your table and quite reasonable. Bit of a delay paying at the end as there was an issue with getting bills out to each table, but only twenty minutes if that. Well worth a visit.
