Estampie and Qntal celebrate 40 years of musical exploration

An evening between the Middle Ages, world music, and electronic sound aesthetics awaits the audience on Saturday, October 10, 2026, in Hall X of Gasteig HP8. The Munich ensemble Estampie and the group Qntal celebrate their 40th stage anniversary with a concert that transforms historical sound sources into a contemporary live atmosphere.

Archaic sounds meet modern stage performance

Estampie and Qntal represent a unique connection of medieval themes, ancient instrumental sounds, and modern musical transformation. From historical finds, a new acoustic space emerges: familiar and foreign at the same time, rhythmically precise and atmospherically expansive. The orchestration combines expressive vocal lines with distinctive instrumental colors and detailed sound design.

A journey through time with its own sound language

The focus of the anniversary concert is the musical exploration. Both ensembles engage with tradition, change, and cultural transmission. Medieval motives appear not as museum reconstructions but as a starting point for a vibrant stage performance with its own sound. Between rhythmic synchronization, archaic timbres, and modern arrangements, a concert experience develops that transcends the boundaries of individual genres.
