Bravery begins where stagnation ends
On October 13, 2026, MUT will be performed at the Pepper Theater Munich. The poetic play by Theater Grenzenlos takes you to a place between coast and fog: people have settled into waiting, while the sea whispers as a distant longing. Only one dares to look beyond the familiar horizon.
A stage design between fog and departure
The production combines a concentrated imagery with a story about new beginnings and the joy of growth. The sea appears not only as a backdrop but as a dramaturgical resonance space for fear, hope, and change. From the initial standstill, a movement develops that captures both figures and the audience.
Dramaturgy of encounter
At the center are people who are learning to listen to each other again. The unfamiliar expands horizons, curiosity conquers fear, and openness leads to community. This development gives the production its special tension: courage arises not as a heroic gesture but in small steps, in exchange, and in a shared look forward.
Direction, stage and sound
Viktor Schenkel is responsible for direction and stage design. Dramaturgy and assistance are provided by Clara Hanae Tolle, and the play was conceptually developed together with Viktor Schenkel and Clara Hanae Tolle. Joscha Baltes designs the sound design. Thus, a stage experience is created in which acting, spatial effect, and acoustics are closely interconnected.
An ensemble full of perspectives
On stage are Bilal Ahmad Samir, Elizabeth Birungi Nalubuga, Joshua Ayodele, Nosa Aimuamwosa, Alina Ivanova, Tendo Mutungi, Selin Kömür, Melat Hoanensy, Laurian Ssuna, Solomon Ssentamu, Mary Nalya, Dorah Nalubyayi, Regina Yachyna, Benjamin Sebuliba, Oluwasegun Majekodunmi, and other contributors. The international ensemble constellation reflects the central idea of the play: encounter opens spaces where new community can arise.
