Disney The Hunchback of Notre Dame: A moving musical at the German Theater
On October 28, 2026, the German Theater Munich transforms into the Paris of strong emotions. Disney The Hunchback of Notre Dame tells the touching story of the bell ringer Quasimodo, who lives hidden high above the rooftops of Paris and yearns for closeness, freedom, and human recognition.
A dramatic story between shadow and hope
The musical narrative combines Victor Hugo's literary source with the emotional imagery of Disney cinema. At its core are Quasimodo, Esmeralda, and the conflict-ridden world around Notre Dame. Amidst religious power, social exclusion, and the longing for humanity, a story of great dramatic intensity develops.
Music, stage design, and great theater atmosphere
The music by Alan Menken and the lyrics by Stephen Schwartz carry the production with hymn-like choral scenes, poignant ballads, and powerful musical numbers. The cathedral of Notre Dame appears as a defining stage figure: monumental, mysterious, and full of shadows. Lighting moods, costumes, and acoustics intensify the stage experience into an atmospheric musical evening.
A new German-language production
The German-language new production comes from the renowned Budapest Operetta Theater. The production will embark on a major tour through Germany and Switzerland starting in October 2026. The dramaturgy and direction bring the well-known Disney story into an opulent stage world where acting, choral singing, and scenic movement intertwine closely.
Performance at the German Theater Munich
The performance begins on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 7:30 PM in the theater hall of the German Theater. Doors open at 6:30 PM. The German Theater is located at Schwanthalerstraße 13 in the heart of Munich and provides the perfect setting for a musical filled with monumental sound, emotional closeness, and great stage art.
Conclusion: A musical evening with resonance
Disney The Hunchback of Notre Dame promises an intense stage experience with moving music, strong characters, and visually powerful staging. Those who want to experience great musical moments, dramatic stories, and the special theater atmosphere of the German Theater should secure this evening live.
